Celine and Paul, Rowing Ireland Volunteers of the Month

Share

Celine and Paul Cusack’s commitment to Tralee Rowing Club commenced when their children began rowing. Cillian and Ciara have moved on, but our club is incredibly lucky that this dynamic duo have chosen to continue giving generously of their time, enthusiasm, experience and considerable skills. Celine has been the treasurer and Paul our boatswain for over half of our clubs existence. Their kitchen table has been our committee meeting venue monthly for 4 years (that is a lot of pots of tea!). Paul often tows the trailer to events, his endless patience with the ongoing maintenance of our aging fleet and the incidents of operator failure are humbling.

Our building was made into a boathouse by Paul’s research, time and skills. Celine has processed the considerable financial requirements of boathouse construction and pontoon installation and she leads our very active fundraising committee and despite this is always ready to help another committee member if they are under pressure. Perhaps what is most impressive about this pair is that their passion and good humour does not wane, even in trying circumstances. Paul and Celine work hard to keep Tralee Rowing Club growing and Rowing and without them our achievements would not have been possible.
